چکیده

W e describe a case of post-operative displacement of an aortic coarctation (CoA) stent, which was determined 6 months after deployment. A 21-year-old woman with history of surgery for CoA in early childhood presented with fatigue and shortness of breath. Cardiac catheterization and aortography showed a recurrence of CoA. An 18 42-mm Sinus-XL (Optimed XL, Ettlingen, Germany) self-expandable stent was implanted at the narrowing segment with a good outcome (Figures 1A and 1B). The patient was asymptomatic at the 1-month follow-up. Six months later, she became symptomatic, and continuous Doppler echocardiography showed a peak systolic gradient of 70 mm Hg in the aorta. Repeat aortography showed migration of the stent distally from its normal position (Figure 1C). We deployed a

Acquired Infrarenal Abdominal Aortic Coarctation: Treatment with Percutaneous Self Expandable Stent

Abdominal aortic coarctation is an extremely rare vascular pathology. Its etiology can be congenital or acquired. Here we present a case of acquired infrarenal abdominal coarctation in a 66-year-old woman who complained of low back and legs pain. She had no signs of resting lower limb ischemia, with diminished distal pulses and normal blood pressure in upper and lower extremities. Magnetic reso...

Three Different Imaging Modalities of a Patient with the Aortic Coarctation

The patient was a 19 year-old woman with the diagnosis of resistant hypertension, although she was under treatment of three classes of anti-hypertensive drugs (beta blocker, angiotensin receptor blocker, diuretic) for more than one year. In physical examination there was only a significant difference between the systolic blood pressure of upper and lower extremities (200 vs. 120 mmHg), without ...

Pitfalls of stenting coarctation of an angulated right circumflex aortic arch in Goldenhar syndrome

We report stenting of coarctation of an angulated right circumflex aortic arch (RCAA) using four Cheatham Platinum stents in a child with Goldenhar syndrome. Difficulties in measuring the accurate length of the curved and narrowed transverse aortic arch marked discrepancy between the luminal diameters of the long narrow transverse arch and wide descending thoracic aorta, increased displacement ...

[Coarctation of the aorta].

Coarctation of the aorta is an important, treatable cause of secondary hypertension. Its prevalence varies from 5% to 8% of all congenital heart defects. This condition is most often detected because of a murmur or hypertension found on routine examination. Delayed or absent femoral pulses and an arm/leg systolic blood pressure difference of 20 mm Hg or more in favor of the arms may be consider...

Acute Type A Dissection and Acute Inferior MI Complicating Aortic Coarctation: A Case Report

Aortic coarctation is a rare but dangerous condition. Presence of aortic dissection in addition to coarctation is significantly rarer and more life-threatening. Here, we present a case of acute inferior MI due to aortic dissection complicating a native aortic coarctation. A 17-year-old boy was admitted to our emergency department due to severe chest pain and loss of consciousness. His ele...
